Various Artists: Guitar Masters Collection - Band of Brothers
On Band of Brothers, producer Brian Tarquin has complied the cream of the crop for his current Guitar Masters Collection which includes liner notes from Guitar Player magazine editor & chief Mike Molenda. Mike states "Tarquin seeks out transcendent players in all styles and levels of notoriety...to deliver a mesmerizing onslaught of tones, techniques and melodic journeys". The Band of Brothers edition of the Guitar Masters Collection is a varied and vibrant collaboration of shredders. The CD opens with the late great Allan Holdsworth paired with David Hines on a stellar "Skippy" which flows into a tour de force for "Tocar Modera" featuring Larry Coryell with Tarquin. Steve Vai followed by Zakk Wylde strut their stuff with bassist Randy Coven on the next two colorful compositions. Later, Stanley Clarke and Joe Satriani show off their fabulous fret work on the funky "Hair" and a soaring "Mother Load." The album closes with the blazing and winning "Blue Wind" showcasing Brian jamming with Doug Doppler and the bass player Billy Sheehan. The aptly titled Guitar Masters Collection is a graceful, magical and cinematic guitar record.
