SoundPress.net CD Review
![]() Terry Daun is an arranger, drummer, keyboardist, singer and songwriter hailing from Phoenix, AZ, and rising high on his latest release. Terry has been listening and playing music since a young age. Currently, Daun is a veritable one-man band with studio accompaniment from engineer and guitarist Peter Manno. Together the two have spun Silk - an eight-track CD that weaves rock oriented instrumentation with progressive patterns. The album is a tantalizing tapestry of textures and tones. The record opens with "Feather", which is not light but an aggressive hard rock piece. It is followed by the title track that features reams of rhythms and guitar grooves. Atmospheric and techno accents worm their way throughout "Whisper" and the guitar keyboard exchanges on "Starstruck" are engaging. "My Part" is edgy and eerie. "Your Way" flows on lilting beats blending with lush guitar licks. "Babys Bottom" is a fluid arrangement with electronic elements threading its way through the track. The CD closes with "Thirst 4 Emma 3" - a piece propelled by keys and punctuated by the guitar. Silk is a fine musical fabric combining styles and electronic sounds in tunes that are tasteful and technical. Info: -- USA/AZ 2010: www.terrydaunmusic.com |
