- Living Proof

Living Proof Proves Buddy Guy Has Still Got It!

Music - especially the blues - is about feeling. Music digs deep and touches the spirit and the blues have been the joy and sorrowful ballads of the soul for decades. The legendary Buddy Guy captures the blues at its best on Living Proof (74 Years Young). In December of 2010 this twelve-track CD was nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album for 2011.

Buddy is a seasoned and spirited musician who melds life-long experiences and youthful exuberance to his latest release. Guy's storytelling is enhanced by his sizzling guitar playing supported by a skillful band.

The CD opens with "74 Years Young" which sets the tone for the rest of the record with bluesy beats and blistering leads. "Thank Me Someday" is the story of Buddy's six-string journey with a solid sultry feel. Next up is "On The Road" which rolls on rocking rhythms and rambunctious riffs.

"Stay Around A Little Longer" features a duet with B.B. King. The two soulfully sing and strum their gratitude for life and friendship. The lament that the "Key Don't Fit" is tantalizing in the traditional blues sense. "Living Proof" flows on taunting licks and a tight blues tempo.

"Where The Blues Begins" is a beguiling collaboration with Carlos Santana. Followed by "Too Soon" which is up-beat despite the story of a relationship gone bad. "Everybody's Got To Go" has a spiritual theme and tone with soaring guitar leads.

"Let The Door Knob Hit Ya" as you might guess is biting with blazing licks and bold beats. "Guess What" is daring. "Skanky" closes the CD with a spunky instrumental. Buddy Guy combines expertise and youthful energy on this collection of classic and contemporary blues tunes. Living Proof proves Buddy Guy has still got it!
