A Kweevak.com DVD Review
![]()
Ladies & Gentlemen ... The Rolling Stones presents rock's royal renegades at a pivotal period in the early 70's. The DVD was a mix of four concerts filmed in Texas in 1972 as part of the Exile On Main Street US tour. The shows were energized and showcased an eclectic blend of songs and styles. Mick Jagger (vocals) was in constant motion as he paced the stage in flashy jumpsuits and sparkling eye shadow. The DVD opens with a brazen version of "Brown Sugar" followed by a ballsy "Bitch". "Gimme Shelter" was gripping flowing into "Dead Flowers" with Keith Richards (guitars) sharing vocals with Jagger and Mick Taylor (guitars) soaring on his solo. "Happy" and "Tumbling Dice" were potent and propelled by dueling guitars. The Stones slowed it down to perform the blusey "Love In Vain" and "Sweet Virginia". The set soon kicked back into high gear with more classics and closing with "Street Fighting Man". The bonus material featured rehearsals from the Exile period and interviews with Jagger from the 70's and 2010. His comments on the DVD were generally positive, noting that the film was "of the period" - meaning limited camera angles. Mick admitted that some Stone shows could be lackadaisical but he felt these clips were exceptionally good. Thus, the legend of The Rolling Stones lives on through Ladies & Gentlemen ...
