A Kweevak.com DVD Review
![]()
Twisted Sister was founded by guitarist Jay Jay French in the early 70's. Twisted Sister combined the elements of glam, metal and rock to form their hard driving sound. The use of makeup and lots of adrenaline added to their live shows. Dee Snider - their forceful frontman and main songwriter - once described the band as "Slade meets Sex Pistols". Based out of New York City, they were best known for their hits "We're Not Gonna Take It" and " I Wanna Rock". The band's breakup in 1987 was bitter and a reunion seemed unlikely. Twisted Sister - Live At Wacken - The Reunion captures Twisted Sister - back and just as twisted as ever - headlining Germany's Wacken Open Air Festival in 2003. The DVD opens with TS rocking hard at Wacken. TS was still a spectacle in delivery and dress as they played an energized set with the hits and other fan favorites. The story of how TS slowly got back together was woven throughout the concert with chats from all five band members discussing the slow healing that led up to the triumphant TS concert in Germany. Other highlights are the clips from The New York Steel Benefit (band in jeans and no makeup) and The USO Tour of South Korea. Bonus material includes the remaking of Still Hungry and the CD Live Past & Present with live performances from 1980, 1982 and 2003.
