and On Tour with Glam Nation A SoundPress.net Feature Article by Rich and Laura Lynch On this July 4th, musician Adam Lambert is hotter than a firecracker and he's helping turn the United States into a "GlamNation" with his tour of the same name that is currently lighting up venues from coast to coast. This new American Icon - who first came to the world's attention during his second place showing on Season 8 of American Idol - is fiery and full of flash and is making a fashion statement that could only rival Uncle Sam on his birthday.
![]() For two weeks in June, Adam Lambert commanded the national media attention when he held two informative and engaging conferences calls with the press to catch everyone up on the progress of his first solo trek in America. On June 2 - and then again on June 18 - the pop star held one-hour sessions and took dozens of questions from journalists, web bloggers and radio hosts to discuss his first headlining tour in the States and beyond. SoundPress.net founder Rockin' Rich Lynch had the opportunity to take part in both of these Q&A sessions and one thing he wanted to know was the secret to Mr. Lambert's success. "Adam, you've had an amazing run of success with your American Idol showing, your chart topping For Your Entertainment CD, and now, the mostly sold out GlamNation tour," asked Lynch to the rising pop star. "I just wanted to know if you were utilizing any personal philosophies for success like The Secret on your path to achievement?" "You know, I definitely was really fond of The Secret. Right before the American Idol experience started I was really, really, really engaged in positive thinking and trying to project and manifest my success and it worked," responded Lambert, enlightening the radio host with his energetic response. "I'm kind of - all the dreams that I had kind of put out into the universe are coming true. I think that, you know, I do believe in karma and positive energy and I think that right now where I'm at personally as far as touring and the video that I just put out and the single that we have out right now I feel like everything is aligned and it truly reflects who I am as a person and as an artist." Currently, the majority of Lambert's energy is being directed to his GlamNation Tour that is on the road in 2010 with support from opening acts Allison Iraheta and Orianthi which promises to be both visually and musically stimulating. "The show itself is being visually inspired by a blend of turn-of-the-century New Orleans meets psychedelic classic rock," described Lambert when asked about his vision for the presentation of his music in a live setting. He promised a concert with "that turn-of-the-century-New-Orleans-meets-modern-New-Orleans, crystal ball, voodoo, magic kind of look" adding "there's a lot of psychedelic classic rock, visual references to people like Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison and Keith Richards." The concert has been designed with Glam rock and fashion as the foundation. "With the tour, I'm exploring a look inspired by psychedelic rock stars blended with this thing called Steampunk. That's Victorian-era fashion mixed with modern elements, punk rock elements mixed with historical clothing," Adam relayed during the conference call. Costumes are by the unique L.A. house Skingraft Designs who have come up with an edgy and moody look that combines Victorian fashion, punk and Mardi Gras. While the event promises to be glitzy and filled with Lambert's persona one caller was wondering if people who had a problem with Adam's controversial American Music Awards performance would be comfortable at this show? "I definitely think they'll be comfortable. That was an artistic experiment. I learned a lot from it. I learned what my limitations are and what my audience wants to see," Lambert said in discussing his one performance many critics felt was over the top with its overt sexuality. "The concert is definitely sexy, but if anyone felt [the AMA performance] was not tasteful, this is tasteful." Adam has been a bit of a lightning rod for controversy. He is the first openly gay musician ever signed to a major label while out and when he recently shaved one half of his head a buzz zipped around the web through Facebook and Twitter accounts with all the latest details on his changing hairline. With all the excitement building around the tour it was confirmed by Lambert during the conference call that the bill will be headed to Asia and Europe with dates to be announced soon. So, GlamNation is taking on the world one country at a time with Lambert leading the charge. We wanted to know if Adam could take over the throne and become the King of Queen one day as well when we asked about his performance with the band Queen during American Idol Season 8 Finals Show. "I would love to sing with them again at some point," Lambert said when questioned about playing with the boys from Queen. "I think that as much as an honor it would be, I think filling Freddie Mercury's shoes is something that I dare not try [laughs]. I don't think that I can hold a candle to him even though he's a huge inspiration. I think that right now I'm going to focus on my own career and my own original music." True to his word that's exactly what Lambert is doing right now on his heralded GlamNation tour. You can be sure that whatever the future holds for him - with his talent, catchy melodies, knack for controversy, and his demanding charisma - it's sure to be explosive.
