Jon Anderson: Olias of Sunhillow (Remastered & Expanded Edition)
YES Legend Jon Anderson's Olias of Sunhillow Returns
Scheduled to be released on March 26, 2021 is a newly formatted and remastered two disc set of Olias of Sunhillow by YES vocalist Jon Anderson. The updated edition from Esoteric Recordings includes an illustrated booklet with a new essay and an exclusive interview with Jon.
The original solo record was released in July of 1976. It was a concept album telling the tale of an alien race on a trek to find a new world following a catastrophic event on their planet. At that time Anderson had penned and performed all the music which was recorded at his home studio. Jon even learned how to play keyboards so the influences of Rick Wakeman, Patrick Moraz and Vangelis can be heard throughout this varied musical montage. Olias of Sunhillow came out in a gorgeous gatefold and was a top ten album in the UK.
"So, a month ago I listened to the whole album again...and felt such joy and gratefulness to have gone through that experience, and here I am so many years later going through a similar musical journey," Jon shared regarding the re-release which had been considered over the years and is now a reality.
The expanded edition of Olias of Sunhillow features a DVD with a high resolution 96 kHz / 24-bit re-master of the stereo mix and also includes a high resolution 5.1 Surround Sound up-mix derived from the original stereo master tapes as an additional feature. Thus, all the intricate instrumentation is clean and crisp. The soundscape voyages through the realms of New Age as well as World but also travels to the unworldly in spots. There are also orchestrated segments and a number of magical YES moments. Olias of Sunhillow is a mystical musical journey for the ages.
