Greg Lake: Live in Piacenza

Greg Lake was an English bassist, guitarist, producer, singer and songwriter who gained prominence as a founder member of the progressive rock bands King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP). Live in Piacenza documents Greg's sold out show at the Teatro Municipale in 2012. This live performance flows in a storyteller format. Lake shared that many of the songs that he presented that night came up as he was working on his autobiography "Lucky Man". Greg - still in good voice - performed a career spanning set peppered with covers of artists who had influenced him.

The first was "Heartbreak Hotel" made famous by Elvis and later "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" by the Beatles who Greg declared were maybe the best band ever. Other highpoints of the show included a beguiling "From The Beginning", "I Talk To The Wind", the timeless "I Believe In Father Christmas", "Lucky Man" which featured a number of musical guests and the engaging encore "Karn Evil 9." Live in Piacenza captures a magical evening of music where the audience was attentive and Lake gave such a passionate performance. Apparently the Mayor of Piacenza along with much of the municipality attended the event and later the trustees of Conservatorio Nicolini of Piacenza gave Mr. Lake the first honorary degree ever given by a Conservatorio, clearly Live in Piacenza is a must have for Greg's fans.
