Shane Pi: Is This Art?

Nashville-based singer, songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist Shane Pi has certainly found the formula for success on his just released debut EP, Is This Art? The effort combines his abundant musical ability and creative artistic skill into one demanding statement that uniquely displays his compelling collection of infectious, uplifting, and thought provoking original compositions. Not easily categorized - and loaded with influences including 70's soul, R&B, psychedelic rock, punk, and jazz - our initial brush with Shane Pi leaves us wanting more - especially the dreamy "Made For You" and the welcoming "Say Goodbye" that serves as a funk driven introduction to his dynamic musical direction.

If we had to compare him to the great masters of our time his work could be likened to the Flaming Lips or the recent output of the legendary Todd Rundgren as his tracks on this extended play groove and soothe with vocal clarity and an electronic backbeat. Just as "pi" is the ratio of the circumference of any circle to its diameter - it's a good bet that the tuned in and talented Shane Pi will be coming around again and again. Can't wait to hear what he does next.
