Casio Goes Beyond Sound to Celebrate Launch of Four New Privia Pianos in New York City
Casio America, Inc. (CAI) hosted a launch party at the Edison Ballroom in New York City on September 11, 2012 to celebrate the introduction of four new digital pianos. The event started with a brief press conference to introduce the new Privia line. Mr. Itoh president of CAI led a moment of silence and then gave a quick overview of Casio the company.
Stephen Schmidt and Michael Martin also from Casio enthusiastically spoke about the features found in the new Privia line. All four models (PX-150, PX-350, PX-750 & PX-850) have an 88 key tri-sensor scaled hammer action keyboard that simulates the ebony and ivory feel and scales of a grand piano. The new Privia digital pianos have more than three times the waveform memory, providing richer, longer and more natural grand piano sounds. The AiR (Acoustic and intelligent resonator) engine provides damper resonance which allows one to hear the dampers lift off the strings when the sustain pedal is used. AiR also compensates for the speed at which hammers strike strings at different velocities and key ranges for the ultimate touch to sound connection. The PX-150 and the PX-350 are portable weighing only 25 pounds. The PX-750 and PX-850 are furniture models that are sleek and sure to fit in most home spaces. All have various sound effects and USB ports allowing music to be recorded as it is created. The Privia digital pianos are versatile and can be moved and played at home, on the road, on the stage or in the studio.

DJ Enferno - known for crafting live remixes - emceed throughout the night adding to the excitement and energy of the evening. On both the first and second floors of the ballroom were the Privia pianos and other models with headphones for people to experiment with. Tom Brislin - keyboardist, songwriter and producer - performed at the event. Tom who has worked with Yes, Meat Loaf and Debbie Harry played some songs from his upcoming solo record Hurry Up and Smell the Roses. During his performance he demonstrated some of the samples and sounds available on the Privia piano commenting that it "feels great". Pop-rockers Karmin who are working on their first LP were also at Beyond Sound. The group is recognized for their hit "Brokenhearted" and covers of Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" and Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass". Their set was animated and their blend of dance beats and ska-styled vocals had the crowd rocking.

In addition to showcasing music and Casio keyboards other artists were in attendance at Beyond Sound including fashion designer Pamela Quinzi, Hair Twisters accessories, Purpose hair and skin products and Chic buds. More and more professional musicians are endorsing and utilizing Casio keyboards and pianos. Kyle Morrison of Triphon, a Euro-American metal band, was on hand to mark the Privia launch. Also, Jordan Rudess of the legendary prog-rock group Dream Theater has used Casio portable keyboards to craft symphonic compositions when on road with his band - and he provided a video approval of the new line. The four new Privia digital pianos are packed with innovations that will meet the needs of the novice to the notable. Casio goes Beyond Sound with their latest line of musical instruments and that's something to celebrate!
