Singer, songwriter and musician Jim Dolan has a lot of experience assembling professional sports teams so it makes perfect sense that when he put together his band - JD & The Straight Shot - that he would draft his players from where the talent is always teeming - Nashville, Tennessee. Every one of his very capable band mates that were introduced during the show were based out of Music City.

JD & The Straight Shot's energized set showcased songs from their latest record The Great Divide. Highlights included the swagger of "Dead Men Tell No Tales" flowing into "Bees" a bold tale of longing and later a song of heartbreak in "Anything But Love". They also presented older material including the compelling "Better Find A Church". Along with originals JD served up a fresh modern take of "Happy Together" (The Turtles) and closed with "Jessica" (The Allmans Brother Band). The instrumental piece allowed all of the high caliber Straight Shot to shine. After their riveting set that often jolted like a shot of caffeine - it was obvious that this time - JD has put together a winning team.

Orange County's Matt Costa is on the road in support of his critically acclaimed album of California story songs Santa Rosa Fangs. Matt is well-respected for his ability to pen timeless, sweetly tragic tales spiked with an edge of folk rock. Costa with his band filled their closing slot with reflective tunes echoing of classic rock influences.

"In the past 15 years of my career, I feel I've continually been breaking through, speaking out, and reaching different people," Costa says. "If one of my songs connects now to someone who didn't connect before, then we have a dialogue together. That's the point of music, to have that dialogue and tell a story, and to entertain with a sound that has depth." Matt achieved this during his set at Nashville's City Winery.

Hailing from NYC, multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Matt Hartke may not be a household name but he has written for well-known artists such as Adam Lambert, Avicii, Cash, The Chainsmokers, Kygo, Max Martin, Matisyahu and Tiesto. Matt released his first single "Gold" in 2016. It steadily climbed up the Spotify charts currently sitting with over 16+ million plays and charting on the Viral Top50 in several countries. In 2017 "Gold" was the most spun song on SiriusXM's Coffee House.

Hartke in the opening slot engaged listeners with his strong storytelling. Armed only with an acoustic Matt crafted effective leads and rhythms to punctuate his points. In addition to his engaging originals Hartke sweetened his set with a My Morning Jacket over - "Wonderful (The Way I Feel)".

SiriusXM's Coffee House Tour featured a varied and vibrant roaster of songwriters at the City Winery. The Nashville venue regularly hosts an array of events such as the Coffee House. In addition to live music, patrons can enjoy fine food and drinks pre-show. Coming soon to this urban winery is Paul Gilbert. Rickie Lee Jones, Kim Richey, Perry Farrell, Al Di Meola and James Hunter.
