BMI Rooftop on the Row Is the Place to Go in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

BMI's Rooftop on the Row has returned for the third season of their unforgettable music series with the unbeatable view. Held on the roof of the BMI building on Music Row this invite only event has become a favorite among industry insiders, VIPs and lucky fans who are able to score a golden ticket to the popular party. Once checked in attendees take an elevator ride that leads to exceptional music and a generous supply of food and drink provided by the event's quality slate of sponsors. The lineup on this perfect early summer evening featured a couple of acts who have taken two very different paths to wind up at the same place - on top of the world in Music City - on June 25, 2019.

Aaron Watson is living proof that perseverance pays off. He started his recording career in 1999 but it wasn't until 2017 that he scored his first major radio airplay hit with the infectious and anthemic "Outta Style" which reached top 10 on Country Airplay charts. That song - along with new tracks from his latest "Red Bandanna" album were showcased for the appreciative crowd - many who were drinking a signature cocktail of the same name courtesy of George Dickel. To illustrate just how far this authentic Texas raised cowboy has come in recent years - he had to cut his set short to head on over to a scheduled appearance at the Grand Ole Opry - a venue that has become a regular stomping ground for him as of late.

Faren Rachels released her self titled EP, "Faren Rachels" in 2017 and proceeded to join Luke Combs on his fall tour. During this time, Rolling Stone named her one of 2018's new country "artists to watch". On Tuesday, with drink in hand, she proclaimed that she was proud to be one of the "cool kids" that gets to play the prestigious event on the BMI Rooftop. The small town girl from Sparta, GA, followed her dreams to Nashville where she diligently worked the Broadway circuit and bar scene. Now, she has ascended to the heights of the city and with the encouragement and support of BMI behind her - it looks like she'll continue to climb even higher in the Biz.

"We are thrilled to announce our line-up for the third annual Rooftop on the Row summer series," said Mason Hunter, AVP, Creative in advance of the much-anticipated 2019 kickoff. "Each year gets better and better and the series has turned into a must-attend event for music industry insiders and VIPs. This series gives attendees the opportunity to witness firsthand the wide array of talent BMI represents. What better way to celebrate the summer than on BMI's rooftop with a nice George Dickel cocktail and some great music?"

Guests are treated to free food and beverage provided by partners George Dickel Tennessee Whisky, Topo Chico, Sam Adams and Texas Roadhouse. This palate pleasing fare cements each evening as a can't-miss event. Additional sponsors include Cumulus Media, Lyft, Delta Air Lines, First Tennessee Bank and Yeti. There are two more opportunities this year to take in the best this city has to offer when Maddie & Tae along with Troy Cartwright share a bill on July 23. The series wraps up on August 20 with a Gone West and Mitchell Tenpeny pairing. Do what you can to make it up to the rooftop - you'll be glad you did!
