New Songwriter Circle on the Rise at Hip Hendersonville Bakery

by Rich and Laura Lynch

The "Songwriter Circle with a Twist" celebrated its second event on Thursday, January 02, 2020, at Lili Bella's Cakes in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Hostess and musician Javelyn invited an eclectic mix of players from afar and near to share their insightful songs in the cozy confines of Lili Bella's. This music showcase also afforded folks opportunities to network.

The second edition of the Songwriter Circle w/a Twist is in the books.

Hot beverages along with tasty treats were available for sale during the night. Javelyn welcomed everyone as she shared her vision to have a space for artists to meet, play out and to create something fun while finding your tribe. With two shows done and more in the making "Songwriter Circle w/a Twist" is on the rise in the hometown of the late Johnny Cash.

Javelyn is an award-winning artist whose music and voice shoot straight to the heart, while kicking one's butt - mixing melodic highs and lows to the funky beat of the street. Javelyn is an innovative DIY artist, actress and entrepreneur with experience in commercials, film, theater and video. She is a graduate of the Second City Comedy Improv Training Center in LA - plus she plays keyboards and ukulele.

Series founder Javelyn recently made the move from Hollywood to Hendersonville.

While living in California she created "Java With Javelyn Indie Music Nites" where she hosted and performed with some of the hottest indie acts in L.A. Out of this event, she also co-produced 4 indie compilation CDs. In need of a change, Javelyn moved to Hendersonville just north of Nashville in 2018 to pursue a new scene. In Mid-Tenn with her "Songwriter Circle w/a Twist" Javelyn is now encouraging area musicians with her energy and expertise.

Dan Shust, Wil Van Winkle and Howie Zow kicked things off on Thursday with each presenting interesting stories in the body of their acoustic numbers. Javelyn on keys shared a personal song of faith before introducing the round. Rockin' Rich Lynch's three song showcase featured a new tune called "Just Waiting For You" which included four classic rock references and he was pleased that an audience member identified them all. He also performed the politically charged "Wake Up" and the intriguing "Devil Babies" that chastised a hoard of holy hypocrites at the highest level.

Featured Songwriters - Rockin' Rich Lynch, Keifer Wiley, Caleb Ryan and Aaron Reynolds.

We learned that the mighty talented Keifer Wiley recently landed in Nashville after a tour around Europe as a cruise ship entertainer. On this night he offered a trio of compelling well-crafted originals that reflected a wide range of musical influences. He mentioned that many of his songs were about difficult encounters but in an effort to try something upbeat he played a piece called "Dancing". Caleb Ryan has a world of experiences that he has woven into engaging tales punctuated by potent pickin' that reflected his time in the Ozarks.

Aaron Reynolds was the fourth in the round. Aaron happens to be the son of the proprietors of Lili Bella's and was visiting while on leave from the Navy. During his set he thanked his Mom for signing him up for chorus lessons as a youngster. Like the others Reynolds was a strong storyteller but he stole the show in the end. He dedicated the last tune of the night to his girlfriend. The song was about letting life happen and having someone to share it with. As Aaron finished he dropped to one knee and pulled out an engagement ring to give to a very surprised Zoe who said Yes! It was a sweet end to an already special night.

Spotlight Artists - Dan Shust, Wil Van Winkle and Howie Zow.

Lili Bella's Cake is a family owned small batch bakery and coffee bar specializing in cupcakes, custom cakes and desserts for all occasions made with farm fresh ingredients. They have partnered with the local Muletown Roasted Coffee to serve up flavorful coffee and espresso drinks. Lili Bella's is located in the Old Town Commercial area of Hendersonville at 109 Shivel Drive in a quaint cottage packed with history.

Their 80 plus year old stone structure was designed by a young Braxton Dixon who became known as the builder to the country music stars. Inside the converted home is an inviting space with a counter, seating and to the side a sitting area that worked well for the "Songwriter Circle w/a Twist" set-up. Lili Bella's just like Javelyn are relatively new to the region but both are on the rise in Hip Hendersonville so stay tuned.
