Cody Jinks Declares His Independence with Intimate Listening Party at Star Rover Sound in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

It's no wonder that the American outlaw country troubadour Cody Jinks chose Star Rover Sound in Germantown to announce the next phase of his fiercely independent career. You see, the north Nashville neighborhood on First Avenue is undergoing a major reconstruction that will eventually pay major dividends for the community just off of Jefferson Street. In many ways, Jinks is doing the same thing by embracing a new outlook on life that was on full display during a listening party for his forthcoming Change The Game album held at the delightful watering hole on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Music City.

Cody Jinks declared his independence in Nashville.

At the well-attended event the award-winning artist Cody Jinks announced that he will move forward into the future self-managed with assistance from a completely independent team as he prepares to release his highly anticipated new album next year. The team includes Malia Barrett (President, Late August Records), Amber Dee (Director of Tour Marketing), Joe Greenwald (VP of Radio and Streaming, Late August Records), Logan Hacker (Day to Day Manager), Keith Kilgore (Tour Manager) and Liz Slyman (Director of Marketing).

"As my team and I traverse the next part of this journey, it's hard not to think that now I am truly more independent than ever," Jinks enthused ahead of the night that was both a party and a celebration that included a preview of the whole album; an intimate two-song, acoustic performance; and a live onstage conversation between Jinks and country music legend, Clint Black where he declared that he is looking forward to an immediate future, "that is exciting."

"I drank it all," Jinks told Black during their talk when he admitted to also recently declaring independence from alcohol in an attempt to be a better husband, father, bandmate and businessman as he hoists even more challenges upon his shoulders. This revelation found the country rocker with the tough exterior momentarily breaking down before answering more questions from Clint and the inquisitive crowd.

The event took place at Star Rover Sound in Germantown.

Based in Texas, Jinks is one of music's most prolific and beloved independent musicians. Throughout his ground-breaking career, he has sold over 2 million tickets, released ten studio albums, sold more than 2 million equivalent units and garnered more than 3.5 billion streams across platforms with over 1 billion streams on Spotify and 1.7 billion streams on Pandora, earning him a Pandora Radio Billions Award. Jinks was named Music Row's 2023 Independent Artist of the Year-his second time receiving the award-and earned new RIAA certifications for his songs "Loud and Heavy" (2x Platinum), "Hippies & Cowboys" (Platinum), "Must Be The Whiskey" (Platinum), "Mamma Song" (Gold), "I'm Not The Devil" (Gold) and "Cast No Stones" (Gold) as well as for his acclaimed album, Adobe Sessions (Gold).

Known for his electric live performances, Jinks will continue to tour through 2024 including 14 newly confirmed headlines shows with stops at Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater, Los Angeles' Greek Theater and San Diego's Rady Shell at Jacobs Park among many others. Jinks will also join Luke Combs for select dates next year as part of his "Growin' Up and Gettin' Old" stadium tour. Full details can be found at www.codyjinks.com. Continually committed to supporting and protecting independently minded artists, Jinks recently signed the first artist to his own Late August group. That performer - Erin Viancourt - released her debut album, Won't Die This Way - this summer to critical acclaim.

If the party at Star Rover Sound that featured a generous open bar and tasty samplings from their delectable kitchen was any indication than we expect nothing but class and professionalism from the Cody camp as his exciting future unfolds. Oh, that and a tremendous new record that is already making a ripple in the industry on the strength of its convincing first single - "Outlaws & Mustangs".
